TV
and Radio Advertising Costs…
Chances
are, you’ve had your business for quite some time. You’ve
probably heard a lot of advice from people who know very little
about running a business, much less your type of business.
Be it from friends or salespeople, many people have opinions
about how your business can be improved. It can be frustrating
sorting out the very few good ideas from the mounds of bad
ones. The information we share with you here is not advice.
These are educated possibilities based on years of experience.
Each type of business is different, and for many businesses
the strategy they have in place is what works best. If you’ve
already tried TV or radio advertising, keep in mind that an
ad campaign takes as much commitment as print advertising.
Its results are usually small if anything at all in the first
few months. Many advertisers quit before any results are realized.
It’s the 6-month to one-year mark that shows the results.
Often, the results after one year are positively overwhelming.
If you
spend $1000.00 a month on your telephone directory advertisement,
for less money you could air multiple television ad spots
each day, and still keep a “bold listing” in the
telephone directory. Not only have you saved money and powerfully
diversified your marketing strategy, but you have also reached
beyond placing ads next to your competition’s ads.
If you
spend several thousand dollars a month in print advertising,
it’s possible to become a household name using a diversified
TV or radio ad and print strategy without spending any more
money than you already are. Ask any local companies whose
names you know from television or radio ads how their businesses
became so popular. Auto dealerships, furniture stores, restaurants,
pet stores, computer stores, web businesses, real estate firms,
and many other types of businesses consistently re-evaluate
the return on their TV and radio ad investments and consistently
renew their TV and radio ad campaigns for a reason. These
strategies work for them.
If you’ve
never seen print rates right next to TV ad rates, the following
charts might surprise you. The following rate cards were picked
up on a random day while pricing ads for an HD Studios client.
There are two types of TV placements listed below: ROS and
Fixed. ROS (or run of schedule) means that the ad will air
as is convenient for the station to air it within the time
boundaries you specify. Fixed means the ad will only air during
a specific program or at a predetermined time of your choice.
Both types of rates fluctuate depending on the time of year,
the value of programming during a season, and provider whim.
It’s important to not base your exact budget on any
rates you see below. HD Studios can provide you the latest
rates and develop a personalized plan based upon your target
market and budget.
